Gated townhome community proposed for Meridian

Casa Meridiana would be Meridian's first gated community if the city approves plans for 32 townhomes on 7.5 acres at the southeast comer of Victory and Locust Grove roads.
"We're targeting a group looking for a higher-end townhome at a reasonable price," said Steve Laney, who would develop the project south of Interstate 84 with Erik Oaas. They are principals in Boise-based Oaas-Laney.
The units would be slightly smaller than 2,500 square feet. Prices are to be determined but figure to range from $349,000 to $399,000, Laney said.
He said the homes would feature 10-foot ceilings, interior arches, stucco exteriors and trellis-covered backyard grill areas.
The units would be built around a water feature to run diagonally across the site. Developers plan a clubhouse, pool, gathering area and courts for the increasingly popular game of bocce ball, Laney said.
Oaas Laney's market studies and its work with focus groups show strong demand, he said.
Electronic entrance gates proposed at the northeast and southwest corners of the property would be opened during the day and closed at night, he said.
Some homes could be finished by the end of the year if Meridian approves the plan and construction starts this summer, Laney said.
Insight Architects and Dynamis Group LLC are the project architect and selected builder, respectively.
